The events that transpired towards the end of The Game Awards 2022 weren’t expected by those watching. Immediately after Elden Ring was announced as “Game of the Year” winner, an unidentified person crashed the stage. Geoff Keighley, host of the show, announced that Game of the Year (GOTY) winner Elden Ring will return in 2023.
Four awards went to Elden Ring, while six went to God of War Ragnarok, thus conceding the GOTY award to the former. However, the unidentified speaker’s speech on stage and his shout-out to former United States president Bill Clinton have swept the internet. Later, Geoff Keighley revealed that an arrest had been made.
People on stage at The Game Awards 2022 were visibly confused
Unidentified person seems to have followed Hidetaka Miyazaki and his translator up on stage after Josef Fares announced the win for Elden Ring. After receiving the award, the kid shook hands with an Elden Ring developer and stood behind Miyazaki. Suddenly, the person shouted out Bill Clinton as the developers were leaving the stage. “You know real quick,” he said. Thanks to everyone, and I’m nominating my reformed orthodox rabbi, Bill Clinton, for this award. Thank you, everybody”
While the developers were confused about what had happened, the security got on stage and ushered the person away. Soon after, Keighley wrote on Twitter, “The individual who interrupted our Game of the Year moment has been arrested.”
According to the livestream, the kid got up with the FromSoftware developers when they went up to accept the award. As Miyazaki was delivering his thank-you speech, he was also nervously moving back and forth and watching the big screens.
Bill Clinton was trending on Twitter alongside The Game Awards hashtag as a result of this person’s 15 seconds of fame. The person’s identity has not yet been revealed, and we should receive updates soon.
The Game Awards stage crashed and social media users quickly started making jokes about it. One comment said, “That guy was the definition of: If you look very serious [about] what you do, nobody is gonna doubt about it.”
