Dragon’s Dogma 2: Release Date, Leaks & System Requirements

Dragon’s Dogma 2 – The action role-playing game Dragon’s Dogma was published by Capcom in 2012 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. On June 16, 2022, Capcom announced the release date of Dragon’s Dogma 2, marking the game’s 10th anniversary.

Hideaki Itsuno, the director appeared before us and abruptly revealed Dragon’s Dogma 2 as the sequel. Along with the industry veterans and his former gaming staff, who are eager to return to the Gransys universe.

It is expected that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be released between 2023 and 2024. As long as Miyazaki is at the helm, CAPCOM stands a great chance of making Dragon’s Dogma 2 a success!

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Release Date

Looking at the development cycle of Devil May Cry 5, Capcom began the development of Devil May Cry 5 in January 2016. The release date was later announced for March 2019 in 2018.

Then what does Dragon’s Dogma 2 have to do with this? If all goes well, we might have a Dragon’s Dogma 2 release date between 2023 and 2024 if We follow Itsuno’s latest development cycle.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: RE Engine

There have been rumors and leaks about Dragon’s Dogma being built on the RE Engine, but now it’s official. Modern Capcom games are almost all built on it, since it is the company’s main powerhouse. A press release was released by Capcom shortly after the anniversary stream confirming this news.

The RE Engine was introduced with Resident Evil 7 and replaced the company’s older framework. As a result of the game’s success, the engine has become the main strength for all future games. Several upcoming Capcom games use the same powerful gaming engine, including Resident Evil 4 remake and Street Fighter 6.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Leaks & Rumours

The development of Dragon’s Dogma 2 seems very early; however, we have obtained some leaks from a now-deleted 4chan post. This information should obviously be taken with a grain of salt –

  1. Starting Class: At the beginning of Arisen’s path, there is only one starting class available: Explorer.
  2. Reworked Classes: There have been a few changes and reorganizations to these classes. Among these changes is the reworking of the warrior class to Gladiator. In addition, the Mystic Knight is now a hybrid of the Alchemist and the Mystic Knight.
  3. General Classes: The game also contains other classes with provisional names, such as Spy, Priest, Beast, Hangman, and more.
  4. Self-Healing: It is only possible for magical users to stop time in order to heal themselves. There are some classes that can do it in real-time, but they must pay a penalty in terms of cooldowns and effectiveness.
  5. Main Hub: For the first part of the game, a wing of a ruined bastion will serve as the centralized hub. A place where players can rest, store items and weapons, and build structures.
  6. Camping: The only way to camp in new areas is to clear out enemies and threats around them, essentially making them safe.
  7. Mobs: In the game, enemies will appear based on the game’s areas, time of day, and weather conditions.
  8. Fast Travel: The fast travel system is still in place. It takes a few seconds for the process to complete. A loading screen appears during the transition time. You can fast-travel to certain fixed points within the playable world only after visiting them and unlocking them.
  9. In-game Movement: The players are shown the party’s location and movement on the map instead of a loading screen. Additionally, fast traveling carries the risk of ambushes and losing items and money.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Multiplayer and Cross-platform

There’s a possibility that a full-blown multiplayer mode won’t be included if the team behind the game is focused on giving us the same experience as before. Initially, online play was only hinted in the pawn system, which was pretty much the extent of it.

Nonetheless, it is possible that Itsuno had been persuaded to reconsider specific game mechanics after over ten years of successful RPGs and action games. Co-op play may be available in the sequel in addition to online pawn systems. Even if multiplayer is included, it may be an optional feature like the Souls games. The gameplay aspects have not been confirmed, so we’ll have to wait and see what they come up with.

Likewise, no official word has been released on the game’s platforms. However, given the release window for the game, last-gen consoles may not be relevant. Currently, it appears Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch release seems unlikely, depending on how far the RE Engine is pushed.

Accordingly, we believe the game will feature cross-platform play across all platforms. There’s no reason why developers wouldn’t repeat what they did with Dragon Dogma Online in 2015.
